VW Motor Side Plates
VW Beetle, Bus, Ghia, Thing Motor Side Plates
These 1/2" thick HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) plates are designed to install on either side of an electric motor in Volkswagen Beetle, Bus, Karmann Ghia, and Thing EV conversions. They help create a barrier between the exterior underside of the vehicle and the motor/engine bay, helping keep road debris, water, and other outside elements out of the motor compartment.
The plates are designed to be used with the OEM Volkswagen rubber motor bay gasket. The rubber gasket helps seal the plate against the surrounding bodywork and can accommodate some variation in fitment.
HDPE is also commonly sold under trade names such as Marine Board and StarBoard.
The plates may require trimming of the plastic and/or existing vehicle components for proper fitment to your specific application.

Fitment Note:
These plates are slightly shorter than the full opening on some VW Bus applications. The OEM rubber gasket can help make up the difference and provide coverage around the plate. Some trimming or modification may still be required depending on the vehicle and installation.
