Thunderstruck’s Dilithium Design BMS satellites communicate with a central BMS controller via daisy-chained isoSPI networks. These satellites enable monitoring of large battery packs with flexible cell configurations. Note that BMS satellites cannot function independently—they require a compatible controller, either a BMSC or an MCU.
Each 24-cell satellite uses 2 LTC's that monitor 12 cells each. A minimum of 4 cells must be connected per LTC device (6 cells minimum for the 18-cell version). This setup allows for a wide range of pack sizes and configurations.
Thunderstruck offers two BMS controllers:
BMSC (Battery Management System Controller): Can manage up to 24 cells on its own and supports up to 96 cells when combined with 24-cell satellites.
MCU (Master Control Unit): Requires satellites to function and can manage up to 288 cells when connected to either 18-cell or 24-cell satellites.
Whats included:
A harness test board is required for verifying BMS cell harnesses. The BMSC kit includes a 12-cell test board. When ordering an MCU, be sure to choose the appropriate test board based on your satellite type:
Use a 12-cell test board with 24-cell satellites.
Use an 18-cell test board with 18-cell satellites.
